What does Product/PO/Transfer Automation do?
It reads the files your suppliers already send — spreadsheets, PDFs, and Word documents — and turns them into Shopify products, purchase orders, and transfers. You map a vendor's file once, save the template, and every future file from that vendor imports the same way. It also sets inventory reorder thresholds, pulls vendor images and descriptions, checks retail prices, cleans up product data, builds purchase orders to send to suppliers, prepares draft orders on suppliers' own sites, and adds supplier barcodes.
What kinds of files can it read?
Excel workbooks (.xlsx and .xls), CSV files, Word documents (.docx), and PDFs. Older .doc files are not supported. An upload can be up to 20 MB, and a single purchase order can hold up to 5,000 lines.
Will it change my store without asking?
No. Every import ends at a review screen showing what is new, what changes, and what stays, and nothing is written to your store until you press the button. The app never deletes a product, and a normal import never removes a variant your file did not list.
Can I undo an import?
Yes, for about a month after the import, from the File Import History page. Undo restores the product details the import changed, removes variants it added, archives products it created, and restores the inventory it set. Some things are deliberately left alone: a product you have edited since the import is skipped and named for you rather than overwritten; stock that has moved since is left as it is; and images, metafields, product category, and collection membership are not reverted. Undo cannot itself be undone.
Does the app access my customers or orders?
No. It does not request the Shopify permissions for customer or order data, so it holds no shopper names, addresses, payment details, or order history. It reads and writes only products, inventory, locations, sales channels, transfers, and shipments.
How is it priced?
There is a free plan for trying the app on your own files: you can upload a document, map it, and see the full review of what would be created, without exporting or writing to Shopify. Paid plans add exports and writes, and are priced by how many distinct vendors your imports touch in a calendar month — counted in your store’s own time zone and resetting on the first. Shopify handles the billing. The pricing page in your Shopify admin is always the authoritative one for current plans, prices, and limits.
Will it match the way my catalog is organized?
It is built for stores that buy from several vendors and carry products in variants — apparel and footwear, home and gift, beauty, pet, sporting goods, and general retail alike. By default each color becomes its own product with its own title and size is the variant, which is how most vendor catalogs arrive, and you can change that per vendor or product type if your store works differently. It can also check an expected run of sizes against what a file contains and offer to fill what is missing, rather than altering anything on its own.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
When you uninstall, the app immediately deletes its access tokens and any vendor login cookies you saved. About 48 hours later Shopify sends a shop-redact request and the app purges everything remaining for your store. Separately, while you are using the app, its own copies of purchase order and transfer records are kept for 24 months and then deleted; that removes the app’s record, not the transfer in your Shopify admin.
